LONGi, the world leading solar technology company headquartered in Xi'an, China, has released its 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, which documents LONGi’s practices and performance in economic development, environmental protection, social responsibility and sustainability in 2019. The report also examines the company’s current work and aspirations in CSR management, business partnerships, environmental conservation, staff well-being and public welfare across its diverse business units.

Over recent years, LONGi has demonstrated robust capabilities in development and sustainable financing, as well as its industry-leading profitability and cost-control ability. In 2019, LONGi was present in the Fortune China 500 ranking for the third consecutive year, being placed 380th. LONGi was also included in China's Top 500 Private Enterprises and Top 500 Manufacturers for the second time. According to PHOTON Consulting’s Triathlon competitive report, LONGi has been in its top tier for several quarters. The company was also consistently ranked as a Tier 1 global module supplier by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

As LONGi's businesses rapidly develop, the company has continuously enhanced its awareness of environmental protection and firmly committed to green development. In 2019, LONGi strengthened exchanges, communications and cooperation with renowned environmental protection organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). The company also invited global media to visit its headquarters, factories, and power stations for in-depth discussions on energy transition and environmental protection.

LONGi actively responds to the United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals

LONGi recognizes that participation in and implementation of UNSDGs can promote global governance and present development opportunities. LONGi combines UNSDGs with the company's business values, and identifies with the importance and intent of the relevant UNSDGs to the company. In September 2019, LONGi became a Signatory Corporate of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). LONGi will thus join hands with many stakeholders, so that all sectors can collaborate in implementing solutions and meeting the UNSDGs. In December 2019, LONGi, along with the Energy Research Institute of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., jointly released the "China PV Outlook 2050" report at the 25th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Madrid, Spain. This is the first time a private renewable company, as a key participant, has developed a clean energy technology outlook report on a specific country.

Photovoltaics can provide clean and renewable energy for social development and play an important role in realizing emission reduction to curb global warming. It is increasingly important in sustainable development and improving human living conditions, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries. On September 5th to 6th, 2019, the 14th Global Forum on Human Settlements was held in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The forum was jointly hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the International Telecommunication Union. LONGi President Li Zhenguo was awarded with the "Outstanding Contribution Award on Global Human Settlements" for LONGi's long-time contributions in improving human living conditions using photovoltaic technologies.

LONGi strives to make clean energy at low cost possible for the world and also practices the concept of clean production and green manufacturing, with three LONGi factories in China’s Yunnan Province and its factory in Malaysia already using renewable energy at close to 100%. In December 2019, LONGi obtained France's CRE3 and CRE4 carbon footprint certifications. This made LONGi the only enterprise in the photovoltaic industry covering the entire industrial chain to receive the certificates.

According to the newly released 2019 CSR report, the total of LONGi's renewable energy use in 2019 reached 1,757,609,814 kW·h, accounting for 49.67% of the group's total energy consumption, higher than the 2018 level of 33.61%. LONGi is increasing its renewable energy use year on year. In March 2020, LONGi officially joined the Global Initiative RE100, committing to sourcing 100% of renewable electricity across its entire global operations by 2028, with an interim target of 70% by 2027.

As of December 2019, LONGi has 32,873 formal employees in mainland China, Kuching, Malaysia and overseas offices, all of whom work full-time. Of these, there are 24,433 male employees, accounting for 74.33%, and 8,440 female employees, accounting for 25.67%. LONGi pursues an open, fair, and equal employment policy, and actively maintains a stable and harmonious relationship with its employees. The company is committed to localized management and training for talent and creates diversified and equal opportunities. With the rapid development of its international business, LONGi understands that the focus of its human resource strategy is to attract outstanding talent and then retain them. Over the past year, a total of 15,700 training sessions were conducted, 55,832.7 course hours were taught, and the average training time for LONGi employees reached 1.47 hours. In 2019, LONGi was honoured many times for its outstanding employer branding, innovative ways of attracting global talent and subsequent talent retention measures.

LONGi commits to charity and regards public social welfare as one of the substantive issues of its corporate social responsibilities

LONGi has established a charity donation mechanism to coordinate and manage the company's donations to charities, to ensure that the charitable activities of the headquarters and all business units are consistent with the company's social responsibility planning and philanthropic vision. In 2019, the LONGi One Percent Foundation, a non-public foundation registered at the Red Cross Society of China, completed the second phase of Lanzhou University's "Excellence and Inspiration" scholarship program (2015-2019). Over the past 10 years, the program has funded 100 students from Lanzhou University. Since its inception, the One Percent Foundation has made many contributions, including supporting the reconstruction of Yushu City in Qinghai after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in 2010, caring for children with congenital heart disease in Tibet with the local Armed Police Hospital, and offering scholarships to support more than 800 students in finishing their education.

LONGi adheres to its corporate motto of "Reliable, Value-add, Delight" and continuously provides green energy and excellent services to society. Relying on the advantages of mass production, a full photovoltaic industrial chain, technological innovations, branding, and talent accumulated over a long period of time, LONGi is tirelessly striving to be a leading solar technology company that gives great value to the world, promoting the early realization of the "Parity Era" with photovoltaic power, and helping more people enjoy photovoltaic green energy.
